COOLGLIDE

Cutera’s CoolGlide Nd:YAG (1064 nm) lasers are FDA-cleared for: hair removal, permanent hair reduction, treatment of all skin types, including tanned skin, and treatment of pseudofollicultis barbae (PFB).

CoolGlide treats Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-VI.

How does it work?
Cutera’s Leading Hair Removal Solutions can safely, quickly and effectively treat large areas of the body within a broad range of skin types and even suntan. The specially designed and cooled handpiece increases patient comfort by soothing and gliding along the skin, and decreases the adverse skin reaction commonly seen with other lasers. Cutera’s Leading Hair Removal Solutions disable the hair that is principally in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in the treated area.

What does the procedure feel like?
Cutera’s Leading Hair Removal Solutions are most often described as comfortable. You will experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation during the procedure. Although no local anesthesia or pain medication is needed, some patients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated. You can expect to return to normal daily activities with the use of sunscreen for any outdoor activities almost immediately.

How many treatments will I need?
Generally, a series of 4 to 6 treatments is enough to address most hair concerns, but the number of treatments for ideal long-term benefits depends on the hair thickness, the area treated and the hair’s growth cycle. The average number of treatments is 5 to 8 and the average treatment interval is 6 to 12 weeks. The individual treatment results are gradual and subtle, but the overall effect of multiple treatments can be quite dramatic.

Is there any downtime after the treatments?
There is minimal to no downtime associated with these treatments. Immediately after the treatment, the area may appear a bit red and swollen, similar to a sunburn, both of which generally last for several hours or less, but in rare cases, blistering may occur. 3 to 7 days after treatment you may experience what seems to be regrowth of hair, but most of these hairs are actually being shed as a result of your treatment and are not regrowing. It is advised not to wax or pluck your hair between treatments, but shaving is allowed.

PROWAVE LX

Thanks to Cutera’s ProWave LX hair removal system clients are making their undesired and distressing facial and body hairs things of the past. No more painful razors, waxes or electrolysis and depilatory creams! Cutera’s ProWave LX offers permanent hair reduction for lasting results. Cutera’s ProWave LX removes undesired hair, and affects stable, long-term, or permanent, hair reduction. The purpose of the treatment is to specifically treat the hair follicle without causing thermal damage to the tissues around it.

As Cutera’s newest FDA-approved hair removal innovation with the latest technology, the ProWave LX hair removal system quickly and safely treats a broad range of skin types and even large areas of the skin with a specially tailored light source for a permanent hair reduction. Permanent hair reduction can is achieved when the ProWave LX uses heat to specifically target and disable the melanin in the hair bulb and bulge, which function in hair re-growth. The hair must be brown or black, because the ProWave LX does not target and cannot be absorbed by white, gray, red or light-blonde hair.

ProWave LX treats Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-IV.

Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in the treated area.

What does the procedure feel like?
You will experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation during the procedure as the pulses of energy are delivered through the handpiece.

Are there restrictions on my activity after treatment?
You can expect to return to normal daily activities with the use of sunscreen for any outdoor activities almost immediately.

How does ProWave LX compare with other hair removal methods?
Shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams are all temporary methods which must be repeated on a frequent basis. ProWave LX offers permanent hair reduction for lasting results. This is also a less painful, efficient and effective hair removal alternative to electrolysis.

How many treatments will I need?
Generally, a series of 4 to 6 treatments scheduled within 6 to 8-week intervals between treatments for facial hair, 8 to 10-week intervals between treatments for body hair, and 10 to 12-week intervals between treatments is enough to address most hair concerns, but the number of treatments for ideal long-term benefits depends on the hair thickness, the area treated and the hair’s growth cycle.

OPTIMAL PULSE TECHNOLOGY (OPT)

Are you struggling with unwanted hair and the conventional methods of hair removal?

Optimal Pulse Technology (OPT) offers a unique permanent hair removal solution with optimal efficacy, safety and reliability. It provides consistent, reproducible results as well as gentler and more comfortable treatments. Hair comes in a variety of depths and strengths, which makes it a challenge to treat. By providing several filters and pulse durations, OPT can effectively target fine, medium and coarse hairs throughout the body for 70 to 95% permanent hair reduction. The results are consistent, safe and long-lasting.

So say goodbye to ingrown hairs, razor burns and waxing appointments, and hello to smooth, fuzz-free skin.

What does the procedure feel like?
Most often described as relaxing and therapeutic, you will experience a gentle warming of your skin’s surface and a brief pinprick sensation during the procedure as the handpiece is moved back and forth about an inch above your skin. You can expect to return to normal daily activities with the use of sunscreen for any outdoor activities.

How many treatments will I need?

The average growth of hair is about 0.35mm a day, but this varies depending on the area of the body, age and gender. Approximately 20 to 25% of hair follicles on the body are in the growth phase at any given time, which represents the percentage of hair follicles that can be destroyed in a single treatment session. In order to eliminate up to 70% of the hair, the treatment has to be performed a number of times until the desired result is achieved.

The typical series of treatments is 4 to 6 sessions that are spaced 4 weeks apart depending on the area being treated. The most popular areas treated are: the face (chin and upper lip), neck, underarms, bikini, chest, back, nipple area and legs. The skin care professional will discuss with you the end point of your treatment and the timeline of what to expect.

Is there any downtime after the treatments?
You may return to your normal activities immediately as there is usually no “downtime.” Minimal redness or mild sensitivity may occur, but usually disappears shortly after the treatment.
