How does excel® V+ Skin Rejuvenation work?
Cutera® excel® V+ Skin Rejuvenation is a cutting-edge, FDA-cleared laser treatment that utilizes dual wavelengths to target a variety of skin concerns. It delivers the precision and power to safely address vascular and pigmentary conditions.
The 3 compatible handpieces of excel® V+ provide the versatility to deliver micro-pulsed, 532nm wavelength light via the Genesis V™ handpiece, customize spot size and wavelength light of 532 or 1,064nm via the fully integrated CoolView™ handpiece, or precisely treat small, vascular and pigmented lesions via the pencil-like Dermastat handpiece.
The treatment works by using 532 and 1,064nm wavelengths, which target skin imperfections, such as redness, age spots, and visible veins, while also stimulating collagen production for smoother, more youthful skin. This non-invasive treatment gently heats the dermis, encouraging cell turnover, fading unwanted pigmentation, and improving skin texture for a clearer, more even appearance.
What does the treatment feel like?
During your treatment, you may feel a quick, rubber band snap on the skin, but a cooling tip is often used during the treatment to protect the skin and enhance your comfort. Most find the treatment easily tolerable with minimal or no feeling of pain.
How many treatments will I need?
For best results, a series of 4-6 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart is typically recommended. Each treatment builds upon the previous one, with gradual improvements that become more noticeable over time. While individual results are subtle after each session, multiple treatments can deliver dramatic improvements, especially for skin concerns of redness, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone.
Is there any downtime after the treatment?
Typically, you can wear make-up and resume your normal daily activities immediately afterwards; just be sure to wear sunscreen if heading outdoors. Redness and/or swelling can be expected following the treatment. Mild redness subsides within 1-2 day(s) with no downtime. For full face treatments, swelling will peak 1-2 day(s) post-treatment and usually resolves itself within a few days. Treated brown spots will darken following the treatment and slough-off within 5-7 days.
When will I see the results?
Initial results appear within a few days-2 weeks: pigmented spots darken and flake, veins and redness fade. Noticeable improvements emerge within 2-6 weeks, with optimal results months after 1-3 sessions. Results can last 6 months-2 years after a series of treatments and proper aftercare.
