Cumulative sun damage can begin to appear during our mid to late 20’s and beyond. Sun exposure during early childhood often results in uneven skin tone, which ages us beyond fine lines and wrinkles. Has the damage been done yet? Not yet.

Cutera’s LimeLight Skin Therapy is a FDA-approved, customized, selective and non-invasive yet exceptionally effective anti-aging and anti-photodamage solution that promotes younger, healthier and glowing skin. Harnessing the spectrum of light, it delivers impressive and lasting results to manage a broad range of skin tones and aging skin conditions. This light therapy helps in the reduction of a variety of benign conditions such as pigmented lesions, age spots, sun-induced freckles, telangiectasia, symptoms of rosacea, port wine stains, angiomas, dyschromia, poikiloderma, birthmarks, unsightly veins, mild to moderate inflammatory acne vulgaris, acne scarring and other blemishes. It also helps minimize fine lines, mild wrinkles and enlarged pores, which restores youth and vibrancy to the skin.

LimeLight treats Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-VI.

All of Cutera’s Laser treatments are completed with applications of: skin-specific serums, replenishing gels, calming balm, hydrators and broad spectrum SPF.

How does it work?
There are multiple wavelengths (520 to 1100 nm) of light absorbed by the chromophores melanin and hemoglobin. For benign pigmented lesions or melanin, laser light is absorbed by melanin, pigmented cells are denatured, darkened, and will rise to the surface, epidermal melanin will darken and may leave a “coffee-ground” appearance, and generally exfoliates in an average of 7 to 14 days. For vascular or hemoglobin, laser light is absorbed by hemoglobin in the veins and the produced heat causes photocoagulation, heat is transferred to the vessel wall and ultimately destroys the vessel, new veins may appear over time, and endpoints may include the following: immediate disappearance, change of color (dusky or purpura) and development of diffused or “hazy” appearance.

What does the procedure feel like?
Cutera’s LimeLight is most often described as therapeutic. You will experience a gentle warming of your skin’s surface and a mild pinching or stinging sensation during the procedure as the Cutera’s LimeLight handpiece is moved back and forth about an inch above your skin.

How many treatments will I need?
Generally, a series of 4 treatments scheduled within 4-week or longer intervals is enough to address most skin concerns.

Is there any downtime after the treatments?
There is minimal downtime and discomfort associated with these treatments. Brown spots will immediately start to darken and your skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen. This typically lasts a few hours and possibly a day or longer. Make-up can be applied to cover the redness.
